Union Larder is a wine bar on Hyde Street in Russian Hill — no reservations, around sixty cheeses, and a bottle list worth lingering over. We've been here since 2013, and the idea hasn't changed much.
Where Union Larder came from
Union Larder grew out of the same spirit as our sister shop Little Vine in North Beach — great wine and exceptional cheese, accessible to everyone. Jay opened the doors on Hyde Street in 2013 with that simple premise.
The room that keeps people staying
The space is moody and warm — exposed beams, amber light, arched windows looking out onto Hyde Street. Walk-in only is a philosophy: just show up and let the evening find its own pace.
Sixty cheeses and a back-of-menu bottle list
Around sixty rotating cheeses, house-made charcuterie — ghost pepper salami, uni pâté — and a wine list mixing OG California producers with names worth knowing. Flip the menu over for the bottles.
Rooted in Russian Hill
We're as much a part of this neighborhood as the cable cars rolling past the door. Our wine and cheese club, run with Little Vine and Table22, brings the bar experience beyond these four walls.
What Imbibe called "casual wonder"
In 2016, Imbibe Magazine named us Wine Bar of the Year — "the difficult target of casual wonder," they said. We still aim for that every night: grab a bottle or stay for three glasses.
